Bowling rules
Bowling rules are very important and if you want to play, you must know these rules. These rules are strictly to be followed, disqualification or elimination in the game can occur when you don’t know and follow the rules of bowling.
Approach:
The standing area is where you will select your ball and where you will line yourself up and throw the ball in a downward sliding manner to hit the bowling pins. Your approach area must be 15 feet long and will end at the foul line. The foul line is the dark line where the lane begins. Never let your feet touch or reach across the foul line when throwing because this can disqualify you from the game.
Lane:
The lane is where the ball goes and the pins are set on the end of the lane. In the lane, there are two gutters in each side and when your ball hit the gutter it will be called “gutter ball”. The lane is usually created in wood or synthetic material. It is very important that your feet will not touch any part of the lane.
Pins:
10 pins are included in order to play bowling. Each pin must weigh 3 pounds, 6 ounces and 3 pounds, 10 ounces. The required height is 15 inches. The head pin is the 1st pin. The spots the pins are set have numbers. It is set up in 4 rows with 1 pin on the first wow.
Bowling ball:
The bowling ball cannot be lesser than 27 inches in circumference and must weigh between 10-16 pounds.
Bowling shoes:
This is very important in the game and if you are caught not in bowling shoes, you will not be allowed to play.
Scoring:
Bowling is played with 10 scoring frames. Each frame is one turn but you get 2 throws in each frame. The number of pins you have knocked down with both throws will be added to your total score.
Listed above are the rules of bowling. It is important that you know these rules when playing just for fun. It will be more fun if you know how the game works and its rules. You could also have fun with your friends in a bowling alley while following the rules. In fact, the rules are not hard to follow. As they say, if you want to win you have to play with the rules.
Bowling is America’s pastime and if you’re American, you won’t have trouble following these bowling rules of you might already know it. Bowling rules are the same with the competition games but there are some changes and adjustments made for leagues.
